Explore the World in Vivid Colour with
In 2020 Painter and Mixed Media Artist Jo Bonomini picked up her brushes and relit her passion for painting after a significant post-graduation hiatus. Jo began re-exploring acrylic paint through abstract colour play and floral motifs, making a gradual evolution towards landscapes.
Living in Malvern, Worcestershire, UK, Jo is inspired by the rolling green hills and countryside surrounding her hometown, and the majestic fells of the Lake District where she frequently visits. Her work brings the nostalgic sentiment of walking in “big sky” countryside whilst evoking memories of seasons past within the viewer.
But as light needs dark, Jo also brings her interest in the macabre, tattoo artistry and symbology through the medium of collage to explore some heavier aspects of humanity, emotions and the world we live in.
Jo has developed a unique palette using the deepest blues and reds to create rich shadows, which contrast starkly against striking splashes of flourescent hues, binding all styles of her practice through this love of unusual colour combinations.
